The Dora Erickson Elementary School dress code was established to help increase a sense of pride for learning. We want each child to reach his or her potential in an environment that is safe and free from learning distractions. We want learning to be the focus for our children. We look forward to the positive impact school uniforms will have on the academic environment and the safety of our school.
Potential Benefits of School Uniforms
We believe that a clean-cut and professional image reduces distractions and promotes learning. Therefore, school uniforms are expected to fit the student appropriately, be cleaned on a regular basis, and cannot deviate from the style and color choices. Students are expected to present themselves in a neat, clean, and professional manner at all times. Our students should dress their best, look their best, and do their best. If a child is deemed to be wearing inappropriate attire, the steps listed below will be followed. If in doubt about the appropriateness of an article of clothing, check with the school office before purchasing such items.
Procedures & Consequences of Not Wearing School Uniform
The school will strive to achieve full compliance through the use of positive reinforcement measures, and will resort to disciplinary action only when positive measures and supports fail to assure compliance.
